Johnson & Wales (R.I.) registered a six-run fourth inning followed by a five-run fifth to take an 11-8 victory over the Albertus Magnus baseball team in game one of the Saturday afternoon GNAC double-header.

Despite the loss, the Falcons (5-13, 2-3 GNAC) tallied eight runs on 12 hits, including four doubles. Freshman Mike Barillaro (Meriden, Conn.) started on the hill for the Falcons and allowed seven runs on five hits along with two walks in four innings of work. He fell to 1-2 on the year with the loss.

Albertus took a 4-0 lead after 3 ½ innings before the Wildcats posted their six-run frame. After being shutout in the top of the fifth, JWU added five more runs to make the score 11-4. The Falcons cut the JWU lead to three at 11-8 with four runs in the top of the sixth but it wasn't enough as their late-inning rally was cut short.

Senior Kyle Calechman (North Haven, Conn.) finished the game with two hits, two runs and an RBI, while freshman Anthony Pellegrino (Branford, Conn.) added two hits, one run scored and two RBI. Malcolm Mendez (New York, N.Y.) tallied a two-hit effort as well along with Robert Gambardella (North Haven, Conn.).

Jon Almonte (New York, N.Y.) chipped in with a run, hit and an RBI for the Falcons.

JWU's Aldo Morales earned the win from the hill to improve to 3-4 on the year as he went five innings, allowing 10 hits and five earned runs.
