Winthrop, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College baseball team was picked to finish fifth in the 2018 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll. The poll, which was released on Friday afternoon, is voted on by the league's eight head coaches.
The Falcons earned 30 points to finish nine points ahead of sixth-place Rivier and eight points back of fourth-place Lasell. Suffolk claimed the top spot in the poll, receiving 62 points and six first-place votes following their third straight conference championship victory last spring.
Saint Joseph's of Maine finished second as the Monks garnered 56 points and the other two first-place votes in the poll. Johnson & Wales finished third in the poll with 49 points, just nine points ahead of the Lasers with 38.
The Falcons finished in the fifth spot, followed by Rivier with 21 points, Norwich with 19 points and Anna Maria with 13 points.
The baseball team opens the 2018 campaign on Sunday, March 4 at Saint Joseph's of Brooklyn.
Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and nearly 4,000 student-athletes across the New England region.
