Providence, RI - The Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team dropped an 81-76 decision against Albertus Magnus in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Harborside Recreation Center on Tuesday evening. Junior guard Walden St. Juste (Hartford, CT) led the way for Albertus Magnus with a game high 28 points. Sophomore forward Ray Askew (New Haven, CT) added 21 points and nine rebounds while freshman center Jefferson Lora (Bronx, NY) recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds in the victory for the Falcons. Sophomore guard Lamonte Thomas (Providence, R.I.) led Johnson & Wales with 20 points and five rebounds. Albertus Magnus jumped out to the early 13-6 lead on a layup by Lora with 15:10 left in the first half. Johnson & Wales responded with an 11-6 run and cut the lead to 19-17 after a layup with 10:24 on the clock. The Falcons then went on a 21-14 run to lead by nine (40-31) with 3:14 remaining in the half. Albertus would take a 44-36 lead into haltime. Johnson & Wales opened the second half with a 19-6 run and claimed the 55-50 lead with 12:43 left in regulation. The Wildcats held a seven point advantage after a layup with 5:53 remaining made the score 71-64. Albertus Magnus responded with an 11-3 run of their own, capped by a layup from St. Juste to take the 75-74 lead with 3:14 left. The Falcons then controlled the action down the stretch, out scoring JWU by a 6-2 margin earning the 81-76 victory.
