Falcons Finish 2011-12 Season as 20th Team in the Nation
The Albertus Magnus men's basketball team has been chosen as the 20th team in the nation in the final D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll, which was released on Monday afternoon.
The Falcons, who finished the season 28-2 with a program and league record in wins in a single season, recorded their best season in program history.
The Falcons went a perfect 18-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference regular-season play before winning their second GNAC title in the last three seasons.
After defeating St. Joseph's College of Long Island in the first round of the NCAA Division III men's basketball tournament, the Falcons fell to No. 4 Middlebury in second round action.
Wisconsin-Whitewater took the top-spot in the final poll after winning their third National Championship title over the weekend. The Warhawks rallied back from an 18-point deficit in the second half to defeat Cabrini 63-60 in the title game. Illinois-Wesleyan and MIT rounded out the top-four teams in the national rankings.
