The Albertus Magnus men's basketball team has been ranked No. 13 in the D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll to earn the program's best ranking in program history. The 13th national ranking puts the Falcons in the Top-25 for an eighth-straight week. Last week, the Falcons were #14 and have moved up one spot from a week ago after winning their third-straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament title.
Last week's #14 ranking was the highest ranking for the program prior to this week's release.
The Falcons are 26-2 on the year and finished the regular season 17-1 in the GNAC.
Three out of the four teams playing at Purchase this weekend for the NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds are ranked in the top-15, respectively.
Albertus will play in its third-straight NCAA Tournament and its fourth in the last five years. The Falcons will take on #14 WPI on Friday night in a 5:30 p.m. match-up at Purchase. The Purchase Panthers, who will face Hartwick at 8:00 p.m. in first-round action, are ranked #15 in this week's poll.
On Jan. 13, the Falcons broke into the poll for the first time this season as they were tagged as the No. 23 Division III men's basketball team in the Nation. The Falcons received votes the previous four weeks before getting into the top-25.
UW-Stevens Point remained in first place with an impressive tally of 25 first-place votes. The Pointers are 26-1 on the year. Washington University jumped from third into second place with a 23-2 overall record, while UW-Whitewater moved down one spot to third with an overall record of 23-4.
