The Albertus Magnus men's basketball team has been ranked No. 12 in the final D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll of the 2013-14 season to earn the best ranking in program history. The ranking puts the Falcons in the Top-25 poll for nine-straight weeks as the moved up one spot from its previous ranking of #13.
The 2013-14 Falcons finished the year with an overall record of 28-3 as well as an NCAA Division III "Sweet 16" appearance. The Falcons' tournament run ended with a 10-point loss to national runner-up and second-ranked Williams College.
The team's 28 victories tied the program's all-time record in wins in a single season, while senior Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.) was named a D3hoops.com as well as an NABC All-American.
The final poll has NCAA Division III National Champion UW-Whitewater at the top with all 25 first-place votes, with Williams in second. Final four participants Illinois Wesleyan and Amherst rounded out the top-four teams in the poll.
On Jan. 13, the Falcons broke into the poll for the first time this season as they were tagged as the No. 23 Division III men's basketball team in the Nation. The Falcons received votes the previous four weeks before getting into the top-25.
The D3hoops.com Top-25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly.
