Pittsfield, Mass. – In their second tournament of the fall, the Albertus Magnus College men's golf team finished 11th at the MCLA Invitational on Thursday afternoon. The one-day, 18-hole event was contested at the 6,827-yard, par-72 Berkshire Country Club.
Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) member Rhode Island College claimed the MCLA Invitational with a solid team score of 307 thanks to all their scoreres shooting in the 70s. Roger Williams finished in second-place with an aggregate score of 320 and Westfield was just one shot off the RWU pace to land in third at 321. The host Trailblazers and Elms rounded ou the top-five. Derek Devereaux of Roger Williams earned low individual medalist honest after firing a two-over par round of 74.
The Falcons were led by senior Aaron Macchia (Utica, N.Y.) with an 82, which was good enough to land him in a tie for 19th. Junior Zach Schatz (East Haven, Conn.) was next in the clubhouse for Albertus Magnus and he carded a score of 89.
Rounding out the scorers on the day for AMC were senior Tom Moore (East Haven, Conn.) with a 105, junior Tom Crocco (Kings Park, N.Y.) with a 106 and sophomore Elijah Thomas (New Haven, Conn,) with a 128.
Albertus Magnus returns to action on Friday, September 23, with a home dual match versus in-state rival Mitchell that is slated to begin at 1:00 pm at Alling Memorial Golf Course.
