The Albertus Magnus men's lacrosse team earned its first victory of the season on Wednesday night with a 10-9 victory over Mitchell College at New London High School. Mike Choiniere (Bethany, Conn.) and Dalton Sargent (Augusta, Maine) both scored three goals apiece to lead the Falcons to victory.

Albertus (1-7) took the lead for good with less than eight minutes left in the contest to secure its first win of the year.

Choiniere scored first in the opening minutes of the contest as Austin Kozak (West Haven, Conn.) found the junior for his first goal of the game.  The Mariners tied the game three minutes later before Mitchell scored two more goals to take a 3-1 lead. Kozak scored his first goal with 2:25 remaining in the quarter to keep the Falcons within one goal.

After play went back-and-forth, the Mariners went into the halftime break with a 6-4 lead.

Out of the break, Sargent scored a pair of goals in the third frame before the Falcons tied the game at seven. Mitchell took an 8-7 lead before tying the game at eight moments later when Sargent scored off a feed from Choiniere.  Justin Bennet (Fairfield, Conn.) gave the Falcons their first lead of the night since the opening goal when they took a 9-8 lead.  Kozak added another goal to give Albertus a 10-8 lead, its largest of the night.

Mitchell's Dan DiGioia, who led the Mariners with four goals on the night, finished the contest with another goal before time expired.
