FINAL SCORE: Albertus Magnus 12 | Becker 11
TEAM RECORDS: Albertus Magnus (2-2) | Becker (0-5)

Leicester, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team beat Becker College 12-11 in double overtime at Alumni Field on Monday evening. Senior Greg Buck (Berlin, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal, which was also his fourth goal of the game and ninth of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Albertus Magnus opened the game with the early 3-0 advantage following back-to-back goals from Buck and an unassisted goal from Justin Bennet (Fairfield, Conn.). Shortly after, Becker cut the Falcons' lead to within one, 3-2, but Bennet struck again for the Falcons, scoring his second goal of the game, extending the visitors' lead to two, 4-2. However, the Hawks scored with 48 seconds left on the clock and cut the lead to one, 4-3.

It was a different story in the second as the hosts outshot the Falcons 4-3 and both teams would head into the locker room tied 7-7. Over nine minutes of play, Albertus Magnus outscored Becker 3-1 to go on to take a 7-4 lead over the hosts with 6:37 remaining. However, Becker would close out the period scoring three straight goals, including a man-up goal from Avyay Chaganty at the 4:17 mark.

Becker continued its run into the third period as Avyay Chaganty scored to give the Hawks their first lead of the game, 8-7. Following a good clear attempt by the Falcons, Austin Kozak (West Haven, Conn.) gained control of the ball and found the back of the net, tying the game up at 8-all. Eight seconds later, the Hawks regained the lead, 9-8, but Albertus Maguns would close out the period with back-to-back goals from Chris Magnifico (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Bennet, giving the visitors the 10-9 edge.

It wasn't until the 9:51 mark in the fourth when the first goal of the period was scored as Brennan Moore (Meriden, Conn.) found James May (Branford, Conn.) for his second goal of the game. However, Becker would end regulation scoring back-to-back goals to send the game into overtime, 11-11.

The first overtime passed with neither team scoring. Then in the second overtime Matt Mueller was able to find Buck who was waiting in front of the net to pocket the goal and send the Falcons home victorious.
