Falcons Earn 3-0 WIn Behind Zapata's Two Goals
New Haven, CT- The Albertus Magnus College Men's Soccer Team earned a 3-0 victory versus in state rival Mitchell College on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons held a 10-0 shot advantage at the half. Mitchell sophomore goal keeper made a brilliant save in the 28th minute of play to preserve the 0-0 tie at the half. The Falcons found the back of the net on a give and go finish off Alphonse Buccitti (West Haven, CT) from sophomore Jamal Howard (West Haven, CT) in the 71st minute of play to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Mitchell rallied and placed two shots on goal in the final minutes of the game. Falcons' senior goal keeper Gerald O'Connor (Hamden, CT) made two saves with just six minutes to play to preserve the shut-out. Two late penalty kicks off the foot of freshman midfielder Steven Zapata (Hamden, CT) made it a 3-0 Falcons victory. Albertus Magnus College improves to 4-2-1, 1-1 GNAC while Mitchell College drops to 1-4, 0-0 NECC. Albertus Magnus College plays host to Lasell College at 12:00 on Saturday during Albertus Magnus College's Annual Fall Fest.
