New Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Men's Soccer Team won their fourth straight victory as they defeated visiting Norwich University 2-1 late in the second half. After a scoreless first half, that saw Albertus outshoot Norwich 12-5, they found the back of the net in the 69th minute. Junior forward Jamal Howard (West Haven, CT) finished a deflection off a free kick by sophomore Steven Zapata (Hamden, CT). Norwich battled the Falcons the entire contest tying the game at 1-1 in the 79th minute of play on an impressive header finish from freshman defender Anthony Amell (Northfield, VT). Albertus continued to battle as freshman Rafael Guillen (Bakersfield, CA) finished a header of his own on Zapata's corner kick with just seven minutes left to play to score the eventual game winner. Freshman goalkeeper Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, CT) made two saves in the win for the Falcons while freshman goalkeeper Alex Toomey (Anchorage, AK) made 10 saves on the afternoon for Norwich. The Falcons improve to 4-1, 1-0 GNAC on the season for their best start since 2003 while Norwich drops to 2-2-1, 0-1 GNAC. Albertus travels to Chicopee, MA to take on Elms College on Thursday at 4:00pm.
