Led by two first-half goals from Nick Hamasian (Hamden, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus men's soccer team downed Emerson College 4-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday.

With the victory, the Falcons improved to 5-1 on the year and 3-0 in GNAC play.

Hamasian registered his first goal of the contest in the 11th minute thanks to a pass from freshman Alex Zapata (Hamden, Conn.). Hamasian's second goal, in the 24th minute, came off of a corner kick, which was placed in the box by the elder Zapata, Stephen.

The second half saw the Lions outshoot the Falcons 10-6 as Emerson scored two goals to cut into the Albertus lead.

Less than five minutes into the second frame, Emerson scored its first goal of the afternoon as Adam Halliday got the Lions to within one.

The Falcons answered five minutes later with a goal from Riker Mitchell (Naugatuck, Conn.) as he beat the keeper after receiving a pass in the box from James Lucchesi.

Emerson's second goal came in the 71st minute as Jon Havens cut the Falcons' lead back to one. Albertus added its insurance goal in the 86th minute as Alex Zapata put in the rebound of a Richard Mitchell (Naugatuck, Conn.) shot that hit the post.

Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) registered five saves in the victory as Emerson's Carter Bowers matched that tally in his second loss of the season.

The Falcons will head to Anna Maria on Wednesday, Sept. 19 for a GNAC match-up. That contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
