The Albertus Magnus men's soccer team fell to Suffolk University 4-2 on Monday evening after taking a 2-0 lead in the first half. Suffolk scored four unanswered goals, including the game-winning goal in the 69th minute by Tyler Parmelee.
The Falcons took an early 2-0 lead in the first 11 minutes of the opening half thanks to goals by seniors Dan Dwyer (Hamden, Conn.) and Ross Suleski (Amesbury, Mass.). Dwyer scored his first goal of the season less than three minutes into play as he finished on a ball from freshman Alexis Garcia (West Haven, Conn.).
Garcia tallied his second assist of the night as he fed a cross into the box to Suleski who drilled in his fourth goal of the season. For Suleski, it was also his third-straight game with a goal scored.
Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) made some terrific saves in the opening half to keep the Falcons' advantage at two but Suffolk cut the lead to one as Parmelee scored in the 24th minute of play.
In the second half, the Rams tied the game at two in the 39th minute when Andres Cohen scored his first goal of the contest on a header from a free kick from Jeff Williams.
Parmelee netted the game winner for his third goal of the year.
Cohen would score again as he scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season to secure the GNAC victory with less than two minutes remaining in the contest.
Piroscafo finished the game with four saves in net for the Falcons as they fell to 4-8-1 on the year and 1-4-1 in league action.
Sophomore Nicholas Chamma made eight saves, including six in the second half to preserve the win for the Rams. Albertus held a 20-15 overall edge in shots during the contest. With the win, the Rams improve to 4-9 overall and 2-5 in GNAC play.
The Falcons will host Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon in a 3:15 p.m. contest in New Haven. The AMCats are 3-8-1 on the year and are 0-6 in GNAC action.
