Winthrop, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team was selected to finish eighth in the 2018 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. The poll, which was released on Tuesday morning, is voted on by the league's 12 coaches.

Albertus Magnus earned 68 points to finish just six-point behind Emmanuel (Mass.) for seventh-place. Defending conference champion Saint Joseph's College of Maine received 11 first place votes to earn 142 points and take the top spot, 11 points ahead of second-place Johnson & Wales.

Rounding out the top-five in the poll was Norwich with 115 point, Regis (Mass.) with 101 points and Suffolk with 94 points. Claiming sixth place in the poll was league newcomer Colby Sawyer with 85 points followed by the Saints and Falcons.

Making up the remainder of the ledger was Anna Maria with 39 points, Rivier with 38 points, Lasell with 32 points and Saint Joseph's (Conn.) with 17 points.

The Falcons open the 2018 campaign on Sunday, September 2 with a road non-conference tilt at Nichols College. Kick-off is set for 12 p.m. in Dudley, Mass.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 20 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
