The Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team opened the 2013 season with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-18) victory over CCNY on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons were led by Glenn Johnson (Newington, Conn.) with 16 kills as he hit .229 in the match.
For the second-straight year, the Falcons have earned a victory in their season opener.
Doug DeSousa (Danbury, Conn.) dished out 30 assists for the Falcons as he added 10 digs and four kills. Mike Clark (North Haven, Conn.) led the Falcons with 11 digs.
The Falcons opened the contest with a 25-20 set win as Johnson recorded six of the Falcons' 15 total kills, while CCNY recorded eight kills with eight hitting errors. The Falcons hit .273 in the opening set, their best showing of the match.
Chase Brinton (Bethany, Conn.) chipped in with 10 kills in 22 tries as he hit .273 in the contest.
The Falcons picked up nine service errors in the three-set match but DeSousa was able to record four service aces in the contest.
CCNY was led by three players with five kills, while Bryan Hu tallied eight digs and 15 assists.
