The Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team improved to 2-0 on Thursday night with a 3-1 victory over CCNY in non-conference play.

The Falcons won the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-18 before falling in set number three 25-13.  In the final set, Albertus won 25-17 to secure the match victory.

Raymond Torres (Cataño, Puerto Rico) dished out 22 assists, while Raul Rivera Rojas (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) recorded a team-high 11 kills in 33 tries. Both added eight digs each.  Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, Conn.) led the Falcons with nine digs.

The Falcons struggled in the first set despite a 25-20 first-set victory. They tallied eight kills and eight hitting errors in 29 attempts.  Albertus tallied double-digit kills in the final three sets with a set-high 11 kills in the second frame.

The Falcons have begun the 2014 season with a 2-0 record to mark the third-straight year in doing so.

Albertus will host Newbury College on Sunday, Feb. 9 in a noon match-up.  That contest will serve as the Falcons' home opener after their Feb. 3 match was cancelled due to the snow storm in Connecticut.
