New Haven, Conn. – Albertus Magnus College men's volleyball first-year Head Coach Nelson Kwok has announced his team's schedule for the upcoming 2017 campaign. In total, the Falcons will take to the court 20 times, highlighted by 14 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contests and seven matches in front of their home crowd at The Nest inside the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center.
Albertus Magnus is coming off a 5-16 campaign and an eighth-place finish in the GNAC with an 0-14 mark in league matches. Last year's campaign was highlighted by non-conference victories against Brooklyn College, CCNY, York College and two versus Medgar Evers. All five of the AMC triumphs in 2016 came against opponents from the Empire State.
The Falcons open the year with a home and home versus Medgar Evers in non-conference play. Albertus Magnus travels to New York (Jan. 27) before hosting the Cougars (Feb. 2). Next, the team opens is GNAC slate with a showdown against Emmanuel (Feb. 4) in the Elm City. The team closes out the first month of the season with four straight matches outside of New Haven. During the road trip, the takes on CCNY (Feb. 8), Johnson & Wales (Feb. 13), York (Feb. 18) and Southern Virginia (Feb. 18).
March is the busiest month of the season for the Falcons, as the team hosts Mount Ida (Mar. 2) and CCNY (Mar. 7) before traveling to play Emerson (Mar. 19), Wentworth (Mar. 19), Rivier (Mar. 26), Lasell (Mar. 26) and Emmanuel (Mar. 30).
In the final month of the season, Albertus Magnus has three straight home games against Wentworth (Apr. 1), Lasell (Apr. 1) and Johnson & Wales (Apr. 4) before ending the year with road tilts versus Mount Ida (Apr. 6), Rivier (Apr. 8) and Emerson (Apr. 8).
