PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Albertus Magnus College men's volleyball team fell to 1-2 on the year as the Falcons lost to Johnson & Wales, 3-0, on Monday evening at the Wildcat Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshmen Josh Turner (Danbury, Conn.) and Feliz Rivas (Danbury, Conn.) led the Falcons in set one with a kill each as the visitors fell 25-6 against the Wildcats.
Johnson & Wales opened the second set with a 7-0 run before Brian Reyes (Danbury, Conn.) brought the score to within four, 8-4, following his kill and service ace. Albertus continued to chip away at the six-point deficit, but lost set two, 25-12.
It was an evenly matched third set as both teams battled through three ties until the Wildcats found themselves ahead by five, 12-7. Albertus managed to cut the Wildcats' lead to three, 12-9, but Johnson and Wales would seal the final set and match with a 13-6 run.
- Rivas led the offensive attach with seven kills, a block assists and a team-high three digs.
- Johnson & Wales finished the match hitting .491 as well as recorded 35 kills and only eight errors.
- Alijah McGee (Stratford, Conn.) assisted 13 of the Falcons' 16 kills.
- Michael Foglia recorded a team-high 10 kills while Jason Rhee assisted 30 of the Wildcats' 35 kills.
The Falcons return to action this Saturday, Feb. 11 against York (N.Y.) and Southern Virginia University. Matches are set for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
