The Albertus Magnus softball team fell to Bay Path 7-6 in game two of the Tuesday afternoon double-header in Longmeadow, Mass. Bay Path scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a sacrifice bunt as Emily Serrano tallied the Wildcats' seventh run of the ballgame.

Albertus posted two runs in the first to take an early lead before going up 3-0 in the top of the third. The Wildcats cut the Falcon lead to one with two runs in the bottom of the frame before a four-run fifth inning gave the Wildcats a 6-4 lead.

The Falcons tied the game at six with two runs in the sixth inning as Krista LaBissoniere (Meriden, Conn.) led off the frame with a single. After the first out of the inning was recorded, Shannon Knox (Hamden, Conn.) reached on a bunt single before both Falcons moved into scoring position on a Brittney Urciuoli (Newington, Conn.) sacrifice bunt. Both runners later scored on a Bay Path error to tie the game at six.

In the bottom of the seventh, Serrano singled to left and stole second to get into scoring position. After an error moved her to third and an infield single to the pitcher, a groundout to first by Marissa Stone scored the game winner.

Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.) led the Falcons with a 2-for-4 performance along with two runs scored. LaBissoniere also went 2-for-4 with a run scored as well.

Danielle Thuerling (Wallingford, Conn.) threw the complete game as she allowed 12 hits and seven earned runs in 6.2 innings of work before the game-winning run was scored. Thuerling walked three and struck out four of her 35 batters faced.

Keelin Dougherty earned the win to improve to 3-8 as she pitched two innings and struck out three for Bay Path.

The Falcons will return to action on Friday as they travel to Saint Joseph College of Connecticut for a 3:00 p.m. GNAC double-header.
