The Suffolk Rams edged the Albertus Magnus softball team by a score of 4-2 on Saturday afternoon in game one of the GNAC double-header.
After the Falcons posted the first run of the ballgame in the opening frame, Suffolk tied the score at one in the bottom of the inning. Suffolk then scored three runs in the third inning, which secured its 13th victory of the season.
In the first, an Elaina Maio (West Haven, Conn.) RBI single plated the first Falcon as Rebecca Slivinsky (Plainville, Conn.) scored on the play. Slivinsky walked to reach base then stole second to get into scoring position for the Falcons.
In the top of the fifth, Albertus tallied its second run of the game as Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) registered an RBI single after Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.) doubled to lead off the frame.
Danielle Thuerling (Wallingford, Conn.) took the loss as she gave up seven hits and four unearned runs. She struck out six on the afternoon as well. Suffolk's Sarah Chasse earned the win as she gave up two earned runs and four hits, while striking out eight batters.
