The Albertus Magnus softball team dropped a 7-4 decision to Bay Path College on Thursday night in game one of the non-conference doubleheader.
Albertus falls to 6-9 on the year with the loss, while Bay Path moves to 8-9.
Three unearned runs in the top of the first inning led the way for Bay Path as the runs came on two hits and two Albertus errors. Albertus cut the Wildcats lead to two with a run in the bottom of the frame. Back-to-back bunt singles led off the inning before Brittney Urciuoli (Newington, Conn.) scored on a groundball double-play.
Bay Path added its fourth run of the ballgame with a solo home run by Keelin Dougherty in the fourth inning.
Albertus answered with two runs on three hits in the bottom of the frame. The Wildcats added runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 7-3 lead. The Falcons' Elaina Maio (West Haven, Conn.) scored Albertus' fourth run of the contest as she crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
Jackie Medina (Bridgeport, Conn.) took the loss to move to 4-6 on the year. She allowed three earned runs and five hits in seven innings. Dougherty earned the win for the Wildcats.
Urciuoli recorded two hits and one run scored to lead the Falcons.
