The Albertus Magnus softball team was blanked by Johnson & Wales 6-0 on Sunday in game one of the Sunday afternoon doubleheader. JWU's Taylor Cwalinski threw the two-hit shutout as she retired the first 12 batters that she faced.
Of the 12 batters she retired to begin the game, six were out on strikes, while the Falcons' two hits came from freshman Isabel Lopez (West Haven, Conn.) to open the fifth inning and senior Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.), whose single came in the seventh inning.
Cwalinski struck out 10 batters in the contest in the victory. She also tripled to left in the first inning before scoring on an RBI single by Kristen Solari. Solari later scored on a wild pitch to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats added four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-0 lead.
Albertus recorded five errors in the contest as Jackie Medina (Bridgeport, Conn.) allowed five hits and just three earned runs in six innings.
