Falcons Softball Drops 4-1 Decision to Wesleyan

The Albertus Magnus softball team dropped a 4-1 decision to Wesleyan University in non-conference action on Monday night in West Haven.

Wesleyan (20-6) scored two in the top of the first as both Ashley McLaren and Jill Gately doubled in runs to lead the way.  The Falcons cut into the lead in the third with one run as Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.) grounded out to allow Brittney Urciuoli (Newington, Conn.) to score on the play.

Wesleyan took a 3-1 lead in the fifth as Lexi Parr doubled in Amanda Roosa from second.  The Cardinals' final run of the contest came in the seventh inning as Jill Gately homered for the second time of the series as it was her fourth homer of the season.

Jackie Medina (Bridgeport, Conn.) took the loss as she allowed 10 hits and four runs in seven innings of work. Wesleyan's Roosa improved to 5-1 with the victory as she gave up one earned run on six hits.

Albertus will host Suffolk on Wednesday, April 17 in a league doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m.
