The Albertus Magnus College softball team has been selected as the sixth seed in the upcoming 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship Tournament.  The Falcons will head to Northampton, Mass. where they will take on third-seeded Smith College on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

The Falcons, who enter the ECAC Tournament with a 17-17 overall record, are making their first ECAC Tournament in over a decade.  This year, the Falcons have put together one of their best seasons in program history, winning 17 contests – the most since the team finished the 2002 season with 23 wins. The 17 wins also mark the fourth-most recorded in a single-season in program history.

The Falcons also made their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament appearance since 2006 as they were selected as the seventh seed in the league postseason tournament.

Smith College enters the ECAC Tournament with a 19-13 overall record.  The Pioneers are making their third appearance in the tournament, while in 2004 the Pioneers took home the title.

Albertus is 0-1 all-time against the Pioneers as Smith shutout the Falcons 2-0 on March 12, 2000 in the only meeting between the two programs.
