Providence, R.I. – Senior guard Shyla Osmond (New Haven, Conn.) tallied a career-high 48 points to lead the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team to an 80-63 victory over Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action in Providence, R.I.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons came out on fire in the first half, shooting a scorching 61.1% from the field (11-for-18) to take a 26-19 lead after one. Osmond sparked the strong quarter of basketball with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting (70%).
Rah-Rah Thompson (Bridgeport, Conn.) gave the Falcons a 10-point advantage, 37-27, on a layup with 3:15 remaining in the first half. A 7-0 run by the Wildcats to end the second cut the Albertus lead to 37-34 heading into the third.
A 7-0 run by the Falcons near the start of the third quarter again put the visitors ahead by 10, 46-36, with 6:17 left in the quarter. Kyah Nowlin (Stamford, Conn.) scored the last five points of the surge behind a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer.
Osmond sank a jumper with 1:03 left in the third to give Albertus a quarter-high 13-point advantage, 57-44, with the Falcons' lead standing at 57-46 heading into the fourth. Osmond tallied 11 points in the third, one of her three quarters with double-digit points.
Albertus maintained its pressure for the fourth quarter, never letting its lead dip to below nine points. Osmond tallied 15 points in the fourth, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and 2-2 from behind the arc. The senior guard hit the last shot of the game for the Falcons, a 3-pointer to set the final score at 80-63.
Osmond's career night came on a 20-for-37 (54.1%) shooting from the floor with three treys. She also tallied a double-double adding 10 rebounds to her 48 points, her 11th double-double of the year. Thompson also logged a double-double on 10 points and 14 rebounds. The senior forward now has a team-best 18 double-doubles. Nowlin recorded her 11th double-digit scoring output of the season tonight with 12 points.
