NEW HAVEN, CONN. - The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team took a one-goal lead after the first 45 minutes, but could not hold off Lasell University in the second stanza as the Lasers used two strikes over a 10-minute span to take down the Falcons, 2-1, Friday evening at Celentano Field.

FINAL SCORE: Lasell University 2 | Albertus Magnus 1
RECORDS: Albertus Magnus (2-2, 0-1) | Lasell (1-4, 1-0)

Albertus looked to break open early just seven minutes in as Katherine Raposo (Warwick, R.I.) managed to break free from the defenders, but her shot from 10-yards out sailed right over the crossbar.

Shortly after, Lasell's offense got hot rattling off six shot attempts, including two shots on goal, but the Lasers' could not convert as the score remained at zero.

With 29 minutes remaining, sophomore Haley Andrews (Prospect, Conn.) put the Falcons up 1-0 on a 25-yard shot attempt that went right over the keepers' fingers and into the back of the net. Soon after, Andrews and Raposo would strike again for the hosts with a shot each, but was unsuccessful as Andrews shot was saved and Raposo's shot went high, respectively.

The Lasers commanded the opening of the second stanza and leveled the playing field in the 66th minute thanks to a good goal from Serena Speight following a nice feed from Melissa Vasquez. Ten minutes later the tides turned completely in the Lasers favor as Kat Fortes put the visitors ahead with her first strike of the season after finding the loose ball in front of the net.

With the clock winding down, Albertus was unable to convert on offense and the Lasers went on to win their first GNAC game of the season.
