New Haven, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College women's tennis team opened its 2016 fall campaign with a 6-3 setback versus Lesley on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Celentano Courts.

The Falcons (0-1) dropped their season opener for the first time since September of 2014, while the Lynx (1-1) bounced back from an early loss with the convincing victory.

The guests got off to a quick start, taking two of the three doubles matches. The first Falcon point of the season came from the duo of Izzy Sabino (Cheshire, Conn.) and Kelsea Wildman (Hamden, Conn.) at No. 2. The pair held off the Lynx pair for an 8-6 victory.

In singles play, Lesley pulled away by taking four of the six matches. The two Albertus Magnus points came from injury defaults at No. 3 and No. 5. Sabino picked up the win at No. 3, while freshman Paige Williams (Orange County, Va.) was the victorious at No. 5.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, September 17, with a home Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) conference clash versus Anna Maria that is slated to begin at 1:00 pm. Last autumn, the Falcons doubled up the AMCATS, 6-3, in the Bay State.
