West Hempstead, N.Y. – The Albertus Magnus College women's tennis fell on the road to Division II foe Molloy, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Hempstead Lake Indoor Tennis Complex. With the setback, the Falcons dropped to 2-2 on the fall, while the Lions snapped a seven-game winning streak to improve to 1-7 overall.

The hosts got off to a quick start, taking all three doubles matches convincingly for an early edge. Molloy took the matches at No. 1 and No. 2 by an 8-0 decision, while the Albertus Magnus duo of sophomore Izzy Sabino (Cheshire, Conn.) and junior Kelsea Wildman (Hamden, Conn.) fell, 8-1, at No. 3.

In singles play, Molloy took all six matches, five of which in straight sets, to secure its first win of the autumn. At No. 3, Sabino put up a fight before dropping a three-set thriller. She rallied from a 6-1 loss in the first game to take the second, 7-6. In the third set, Megan Scalie outlasted Sabino for a 10-8 triumph.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, October 1, with a road Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) battle with Suffolk that is slated to begin at 4:00 pm. Last fall, the Rams defeated the Falcons, 9-0, in the Elm City.
