Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Brandeis in ECAC Match

The Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team fell to top-seeded Brandeis 3-0 on Friday night in the Falcons' first-ever appearance in the ECAC Tournament.

Brandeis won the sets 25-9, 25-13, 25-12 and improved to 20-13 on the year. The win puts the Judges into the semifinal round of the ECAC Tournament, while the Falcons finish the 2012 season with a 12-13 overall record.

 In the opening set of the night, the Judges jumped out to a 10-1 lead en route to their 25-9 win. Yael Einhorn (Cherry Hill, N.J.) dished out 12 assists for her team in the set, while the Judges recorded a .682 hitting percentage with 16 kills and just one error.

In the second set, Albertus quickly took an 8-2 lead as freshman Kelsey Pendagast (Shelton, Conn.) recorded three kills during that run. Brandeis fought back and evened the score at 10-10 before the Judges' Carly Gutner-Davis (Del Mar, Calif.) served 10 consecutive points to give her team a 20-10 lead.

Brandeis took an 18-10 lead in the final set before closing out the match on a 15-2 run.

For the match, Brandeis registered a season-best .487 hitting percentage, while Einhorn finished with 36 assists. Hood finished the night with 16 kills as well.

Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) led the team with six kills, while Maritza Rosemond (New Haven, Conn.) had nine assists.
