Women's Lacrosse Drops Non-Conference Clash to Mount Saint Vincent's on Senior Night

New Haven, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team closed out the 2018 regular season with a home non-conference loss against the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 11-5, on Thursday evening at Celentano Field.

Prior to the start of tonight's game, the women's lacrosse recognized the accomplishments of its four-member senior class – Michele Guerrera (Watertown, Conn.), Robyn Grimshaw (Waterbury, Conn.), Nikki Kern (Wallingford, Conn.) and Alex Chan (Monroe, N.Y.).

Over the first 17 minutes of play, Albertus Magnus and Mount Saint Vincent traded goals and battled through three ties until the 9:20 mark as Emma Dell'Aquila sparked a 6-0 run that carried over in the second half, putting the visitors up by six, 9-3.

Sophomore Korina Zelaya (Trumbull, Conn.) broke the Falcons' silence with her second of the game at the 6:07 mark, but Mount Saint Vincent scored an additional two runs over the next three minutes to put the game away, 11-4.

Sophomore Kaitlin D'Agostino (Hamden, Conn.) would score the Falcons final goal of the game on a free position shot to bring the score to 11-5.

  • Albertus Magnus finished the game 13-for-14 in clears compared to Mount Saint Vincent who went 20-of-22.
  • Mount Saint Vincent was led offensively by Dell'Aquilla who posted a game-high three goals while Paulina Mandujano and Shannon Dalton added two goals each.
  • The Dolphins outshot the Falcons, 34-27, as well as held a 23-18 edge in ground balls and a 3-1 advantage in free position shots.
  • The Falcons won the draw control battle, 10-8.
  • Both teams registered nine caused turnovers.
  • Three different players from Albertus caused two turnovers.
  • Sophomore Courtney Cacace (Brookfield, Conn.) also scored a goal for the Falcons as well as tallied two draws and a ground ball.
  • D'Agostino led the Falcons for the second straight game in draw with eight.
  • Freshman Katherin Martinez (Norwalk, Conn.) scooped up a team-best six ground balls.
