Winthrop, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team was picked to finish eighth in the 2018 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. The poll, which was released on Monday afternoon, is voted on by the league's 13 coaches.

Albertus earned 84 points to finish 11-points behind seventh-place the University of Saint Joseph's (Conn.). Fresh off its eighth-straight GNAC Championship last fall, Lasell received eight first-place nods and 164 points to finish atop the poll.

Johnson & Wales garnered the remaining five first-place votes, earning 161 points to finish second in the poll. Saint Joseph's College of Maine took third in the preseason ledger with 131 points followed by fourth-place Emmanuel (Mass.) with 128 points. Rounding out the top-six teams in the poll was Colby Sawyer and Simmons with 118 and 102 points, respectively.

Making up the remainder of the poll after Albertus was Suffolk University with 60 points, Regis (Mass.) with 56 points, Norwich University with 39 points, Rivier University with 32 points, and Anna Maria with 13 points.

The Falcons open the 2018 slate on Friday, August 31 with a home non-conference clash against Elms College. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m. at Celentano Field.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region.
