The Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 26-24) decision to Bay Path in non-conference action on Thursday night.
Despite the loss, Albertus (0-5) kept the contest close, losing two sets by two points.
The Falcons were led by Elizabeth Williams (West Haven, Conn.) as she recorded 10 kills and eight digs, while Maritza Rosemond (New Haven, Conn.) registered 17 assists along with five digs and three kills.
Bay Path (3-5) received 16 kills from Nadine Harkless as she hit .353 on the night. Harkless added 12 digs and a solo block in Bay Path's third win of the season.
The first and final sets of tonight's match were decided by two points as the Falcons held a six-point lead at 22-16 in the opening set before Bay Path rattled off a 9-1 run to take the 25-23 victory.
Bay Path dominated the second set, taking a 25-15 win. The Falcons answered back in the third as they were down 14-5 and climbed back to within two at 21-19, led by three kills, three assists and three digs from Rosemond.
A kill from Tiffany Ortiz (New Haven, Conn.) followed by back-to-back Bay Path hitting errors tied the set at 24 but Albertus' late rally was cut short as Harkless picked up her 16th and final kill of the night and was followed up by a service ace from teammate Kacie Bayreuther. Bay Path took the final set 26-24.
The Falcons will host Norwich and Mitchell on Saturday, Sept. 17 in a tri-match beginning at 1:00 p.m. In the opening contest, Albertus will take on Norwich in a GNAC match-up before facing Mitchell at 5:00 p.m. Mitchell and Norwich will face one another at 3:00 p.m.
