The Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team fell to Emerson College 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-14) on Sunday afternoon as the Lions remain unbeaten in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. The Falcons' loss breaks a five-game win streak that Albertus held since its October 8th match against Suffolk.

Hitting errors hurt the Falcons (12-10, 3-7 GNAC) in today's loss as they recorded 21 miscues at the net and only picked up 17 kills in the match. Emerson had two players with double-figure kills as Kat Westbrook tallied a match-high 14 kills in 27 attempts. Kat Rice added 13 kills for the Lions in 18 tries. With the victory, the Lions improved to 9-0 in GNAC play and 15-8 on the year.

The Falcons opened each set with a 1-0 lead before Emerson bounced back each time to take the lead. With the score tied at three in the first set, the Lions jumped out with a 12-3 run to make the score 15-6 in their favor. After taking a 21-10 lead, the Lions used two Falcon attacking errors plus two of their own kills to take a 25-10 victory.

With the score tied at three in the second set, the Falcons were able to take their own lead as Isabel Lopez (West Haven, Conn.) recorded a kill to give Albertus a 6-4 advantage. With the Falcons leading 6-5, Emerson's Giuli Frendak served three-straight points before a service error. With the score tied at eight, the Lions went on a 5-1 run to take control of the frame before four errors by the Falcons gave the Lions a 25-17 win.

The third set opened the same as the previous two as Albertus jumped out to a 1-0 lead. This time the Lions put together a commanding answer as they used an 11-0 run on 11-straight serves by Katie Towey. During that run, Rice also tallied four kills to lead the Lions.

Freshman Jenna Dececchi (West Haven, Conn.) recorded a team-high five kills in 16 tries, while Krista LaBissoniere (Meriden, Conn.) tallied nine digs, three assists and two kills. Maritza Rosemond (New Haven, Conn.) also had seven assists in the match.

The Falcons will finish the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 27 with a tri-match at Lasell College in Newton, Mass. Albertus will play Simmons College at noon before taking on the Lasers at 2:00 p.m.
